Cyprus has acceded to the Convention on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil of Commercial Μatters, signed in The Hague on 15.11.1965 (ratifying Law is 40/1982). The Minister of Justice and Public Order has been assigned as the Central Authority and cooperates with counterpart Central Authorities of other Contracting States.

The purpose of the Convention is the creation of the necessary means as to ensure that Court and other documents for service to another state, will inform promptly the person for whom the service will be effected.

Also with the entrance of Cyprus in the European Union, Regulation (EC) No 1393/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 November 2007 on the service in the Member States of judicial and extrajudicial documents in civil or commercial matters (service of documents), and repealing Council Regulation (EC) No 1348/2000. applies.
